La Maddalena was honored at the prestigious international Muse Design Award competition in New York.
But first things first. We were recognized in the “interior design” category for our style, elegance, and use of very refined materials in our interiors—such as wood, natural stone, and precious metals—in subdued colors and shades of earth tones, silver, and cool gold, as stated in the citation.
At the gala in New York, jury members emphasized that they had awarded prizes to interiors that were stylish, modern, and bold, yet cohesive, and that exuded harmony and beauty. In the final round, we competed against restaurants from Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates, and Canada.
We received a gold statuette. It is a tremendous honor—and a distinction.
The jury was drawn to the custom-made wall reliefs in shades of cool, platinum silver applied using the leafing technique, the fire-charred oak floor, and the extraordinary attention to every detail of the interior design.
The jury members were impressed by the VIP room with its separate entrance, as well as the restaurant’s beautiful terrace, which juts out directly over the Odra River, offering a view of the University of Wrocław building and the ability to moor a boat right next to the restaurant. The chairs, tables, and glass wine cabinets were designed and crafted by local artisans.

In June 2019, we decided to move La Maddalena from Włodkowica Street to the Odrzańskie Boulevards, into the Marina III building located right next to the Pomorskie Bridges, which were undergoing restoration at the time. Not even in our worst nightmares did we imagine that six months later, a global coronavirus pandemic would sweep the world and we would have to face the toughest battle yet to keep the restaurant afloat.
We specialize in wild fish and seafood. Every weekend, you can enjoy oysters that we source directly from David Herve at the port of Cancale in Brittany. Our menu also features a tasting menu, a vegan menu, and meats from local suppliers. In our kitchen, high-quality ingredients are our top priority. It always will be! This award is a little consolation for the past, oh-so-difficult year. We promise we’ll be even better.
